Karl-Heinz Ladeur studied law at the university of Cologne and Bonn. Worked from 1971 to 1976 as a research associate at the Unviersity of Gießen. Received his promotion in 1976 and his habilitation in 1982. Worked as a professor at the University of Bremen from 1982 to 1994. Since then he is professor at the University of Hamburg. He also taught at the European Graduate School of Florenz.
