PhD in International Relations from the University of Leipzig, teaching at the Universitz if Leipzig (until 1991), Universitz of Tampere (1992), American Universitz, Washington D.C. (1992/1994) and Aarhus Universitz (since 1998). Various fun ction within ICANN (Chair of the NomCom), UN (member of the UN Working Gropup on Internet Governance), EU (chair of the IRISI Board), Council of Europe (Chair of the Cross Border Internet Expert Group) and the IAMCR (member of the Internaitonal Council). Founder and Chair of the Summer School on Internet Governance.
