Tristan ThielmannUniversity of Siegen
Tristan Thielmann is an Assistant Professor in Media Geography at the University of Siegen and 2011/12 Fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. His cross-disciplinary research explores the social practices of geomedia with a focus on navigation systems, geobrowsing and geosurveillance technologies. Tristan received his Ph.D. in Communication Studies from the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich in 2004. He is a former Visiting Fellow of the Software Studies Initiative at the University of California San Diego, and is especially well-known for his bestselling books “Spatial Turn: The Space Paradigm in Cultural and Social Sciences” (2008) and “Media Geography” (2009).
